GORMAN
Elevation: 9000 feet
Distance: 100 kms
Gorman is a hill climbers paradise and is groomed on a regular basis. This is an area for those extreme riders who enjoy adrenaline ascents and descents on their machine. This area is also the access to Upper Holt, an, Grizzly, East Quartz and Cirque. This area is not recommended for beginner riders. This is also in an area with numerous avalanche paths, so be sure to know the avalanche hazard and how to use your beacon, shovel and probe if you go.
Access is via Dogtooth Forest Service Road. There will be active logging on this road over the winter season 2008/2009. Sledders are advised that use of VHF radio frequency 153.320 is mandatory from Monday to Friday after January 4, 2009, or while active logging is occurring. This required radio communication will help ensure safety for all road users. Watch for posted signs, use caution at all times, and give logging trucks the right of way.
